Alaska WWII Remembrance Day is a historical and musical narrative to commemorate the WWII in general and, especially, the role of Alaska during that time. We dedicate this event to the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Attu, the only WW II ground combat on the US territory.

Our beautiful state of Alaska is unique in many ways. One of them is the richness of its cultural diversity. Today people from many different cultures call the Last Frontier their home. Residents of Anchorage speak more than ninety different languages. In our concert, we have included Alaskan Native, American, Japanese, and Russian performances, reflecting the cultures that were involved in WW II, and now are the pieces of the multicultural tapestry of our great State!

Alaska WWII Remembrance Day program presents our perspective on Alaska WW II history with an attempt to give factual and objective view of the events and engage the audience with history through the performing arts.

Guest artists involved in this historical and musical tribute are:

Svetlana Velitchko - Concert pianist, teacher former professor of Moscow Tchaikovsky Music Concervatory
Christine Keene - Actress, singer, and vocal instructor, lives in Anchorage
Leo Grinberg - singer and actor from Anchorage
Imasuat - Alaska Native Dance group from Anchorage
Tomodachi Daiko - Japanese Taiko drummers, Sand Lake Elementary School, Anchorage
Pavva - Alaska Native Dance group from Fairbanks
Friends in Dance - Russian dancing group from Fairbanks

We extend our "Thank you" to all who responded to our invitation to take part in this concert and helped to put the program together.
