Zlata Lund, GUEST ARTISTS Stephen Sulich, Pianist Stephen Sulich returns to Anchorage, Alaska in the 2007-2008 season to conduct his seventeenth production with Anchorage Opera - Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail. This past season in Anchorage he conducted Gounod's Roméo et Juliette on the main stage and Dominick Argento's Miss Havisham's Wedding Night as part of Anchorage Opera's Second Stage Series. He has served as guest recitalist, conductor and instructor for the Young Artist Vocal Program at the Pine Mountain Music Festival in Michigan for the past five years. Maestro Sulich boasts a broad repertoire of almost fifty operas and has conducted for more than twenty opera companies across the United States including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and Texas Opera Theater. Recent recordings include: a collaboration with soprano Lucy Thrasher on a CD of Cabaret Songs by classical composers, released this past August (2007) on the Barking Dog Records label, and several piano solos for the soundtrack of STILL(e), a film by Susan Schwarzwald/First Gaze Films.
Anastasia Jamieson, Soprano Elena Zabarskaya, Soprano Elena graduated from the choral and conducting faculty of the Novosibirsk State Conservatory of Music. She has sung leading roles in various opera projects of the Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society: Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Handel’s Acis and Galatea. Elena conducts a children’s choir and has a career as a solo vocalist.
She is a frequent visitor to Alaska and took part in many RACS concerts in the past years, as a singer from the Sharomov Vocal Ensemble.
